Millie Bobby Brown silences critics of her changing accent with an astonishing retort.

Millie Bobby Brown answered her detractors once and for all after being accused of attempting to sound "more American".

The 20-year-old made headlines when she appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last month, as she looked to have lost her strong British accent (watch the video here).

Millie was born in Spain and later moved to Bournemouth, England, until her family immigrated to Florida when she was eight years old.

However, in prior interviews and appearances, she has kept her British accent. Following backlash for speaking "differently" to Jimmy Fallon, Millie discussed her changing accent in a TikTok interview.

"I'm an actor," explained the Stranger Things star. "I was raised in the public eye. I grew up in America.

She went on to say, "I come to set and I'm an actor and I adapt, and so I want to mimic other people!"

"I can't help but want to emulate my fiancé's accent or that of Jimmy Fallon, who has a very American accent!

"And now that I'm in England, I want to recreate that [accent]! I do it unintentionally." Millie then addressed the camera directly, saying, "I apologize if this offends you, okay? But listen, I am doing my best! "I'm doing my best."
