Since 2019, the Grand Ole Opry has recognized a select selection of NextStage performers or bands who it believes represent the future of country music.   

They are picked for "outstanding authenticity and creativity" and represent a diverse spectrum of musical styles.   

Throughout the year, they are given multiple opportunities to perform on the Opry, allowing them to reach a considerably larger audience.  

The NextStage program has a strong track record, with 26 past artists including Parker McCollum, Riley Green, Megan Maroney, Hailey Whitters, Ian Munslick, and others going on to achieve tremendous success.  

So far, Lainey Wilson has stood out the most. She was a member of the NextStage class in 2021 and was voted CMA Entertainer of the Year two years later.  

Wilson and Opry member Jamey Johnson are both ardent advocates of emerging country music talent and were present Tuesday night to celebrate the announcement of the NextStage Class of 2024.
