The Princess of Wales was sighted on Monday in the passenger seat of her mother Carole's vehicle outside Windsor Castle.

Middleton's glimpse was Kate's first public appearance in 70 days. Her last public appearance was during her family's Christmas church service.

Christopher Andersen, author of "The King," told Fox News Digital that Monday's glimpse of Kate was "definitely not a staged appearance designed to appease the public."

"She was trying to sneak out of Windsor with her mother and was clearly not pleased that they had been spotted by a photographer," Andersen told the newspaper.

"This cloak-and-dagger stuff is only going to fuel more speculation about what's really going on with Kate and with her father-in-law, King Charles."

He went on to say, "In classic pompous form, the palace published a statement last week asserting that everything was going as planned.
