In the NCAA Elite Eight, USC Women's Basketball Falls to UConn, 80–73

For the first time in 30 years, the top-seeded USC women's basketball team lost to a hot-shooting UConn club 80-73 in the NCAA Regional Final in Portland, Ore. 

USC led early, but UConn rallied for an 11-0 fourth-quarter surge. 

Trojans made their fourth Elite Eight berth after reaching their highest national rating since 1986 at No. 3. USC finishes 2023-24 with a strong 29-6 record. 

USC's JuJu Watkins, McKenzie Forbes, and Rayah Marshall were given Portland Region 3 All-Tournament honors. 

USC and UConn were tied 33-33 at halftime after a game of runs in the first half, with the Trojans shooting 33% and the Huskies 40%. 

Each team had three 3-pointers, and USC led 21-19. UConn shot 4-of-5 from the free-throw line in the first half, while USC shot 8-for-8. Still hot, 

the Huskies finished at 48.3% and led 42-41 in boards. USC dropped its first game of the year after scoring 70 or more points at 32.9 percent. 

A McKenzie Forbes 3-pointer put the Trojans up 5-2, but the Huskies answered two minutes later at 7-6. JuJu Watkins' jumper started an 8-0 USC rally to lead 15-6 at 3:53 after Watkins and Forbes made three-pointers.
