Belichick could soon join Washington's football staff.

Bill Belichick did not obtain the Washington Commanders head coaching position, as many expected, but he may still coach in Washington.

ESPN's Field Yates reported Friday that Patriots outside linebackers coach Steve Belichick

and Patriots running backs coach Vinnie Sunseri are scheduled to interview for defensive roles on Jedd Fisch's Washington staff.

Fisch was the Patriots quarterbacks coach for the 2020 season, working with Belichick and Sunseri.

Sunseri was a defensive assistant before transitioning to running backs.

He played safety at Alabama and for the Saints, Patriots, and 49ers across three NFL seasons.

Steve Belichick has been with the Patriots since 2012, concentrating solely on defense

Despite never having held the position of defensive coordinator, he has coached safeties and outside linebackers as well as called plays.

It would be odd for Belichick to join the staff given that Brennan Carroll

Pete's son, recently joined Fisch from Arizona as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.
